Kitchen Tile Backsplash Design Ideas

  • Use different types of textures to accentuate your walls. Mix natural stone and glass tile. Or glass and ceramic. You don’t have to be focus on just one material. Your kitchen consists of many different surfaces, use tile to accentuate that!
  • Go out and gather tile in colors and textures that best fit your kitchen or personality. Don’t worry about the size or shape, just look for catches your eye color and texture wise. Now break them up and create your own custom mosaic on the wall! Use the tile pieces in interesting shapes, you can make it random or create a pattern. Let the wall be your canvas. It will be easier on you when you start to glue them to the wall if you first design what you’re doing on a flat surface. If you aren’t comfortable creating your own design, try looking at needle point designs. They make excellent templates for mosaics!
  • Hand painted tiles are beautiful. Incorporate a hand painted tile or tiles into your design. They come in many sizes and have many themes. Depending on the size of the tile and your wall, you can either create a repeating pattern or just use one big tile as the center of your wall. What you do with it or where you put it is up to you!
