Today, Harmony asks:
Dear Diva,
I’m on a budget but I’m tired of my mini blinds. Are there any inexpensive options for faux wood blinds?
Harmony,
The best place to find inexpensive 2″ Plantation Style Faux Wood Blinds is your local home improvement warehouse.
The pros carry a wide selection of sizes and can cut them down while you wait in the store. They look nice and let in more light in than 1″ mini blinds. Than don’t cost near as much as Plantation Shutters, so you can get relatively the same style for a fraction of the cost. And for those that are budget conscientious they keep them in stock so you can go back when you have the funds to do more. So you can buy one blind or one room at a time.
The downside, they only carry a few colors. Most stores stock white and off white and occasionally a wood tone. The sizes they have that can be cut down are 23″ to 72″. So if your window is bigger or smaller than 17″, you’ll have to do a more expensive special order. They are not made to be raised and lowered every day because of they are heavy. These blinds are made to be tilted open and closed only on a daily basis.
Special note: As for simple measuring tips for installing window blinds, measuring all your windows before buying window blinds will save you plenty of headaches later on. If it’s important for you to do all your window binds the same, you’ll want to make sure you aren’t working with any size limitations. So measure all your windows first and check the sizes of each and everyone against the style you are looking at.
Do you have questions about the selecting or the installation of: tile, carpet or wall treatments (blinds, etc)? Then email me your tale of woe and perhaps I will be able to answer your questions right here at the Flooring Diva Blog!
